Dayton Gems News Release
Dayton, Ohio - The Dayton Gems professional hockey team, proud member of the Central Hockey League, officially released details on the team's upcoming Home Opener & Tailgate set for this Saturday night at 7pm inside the historic Hara Arena.
Hosting their division rival Quad City Mallards on Cassano's Italian Ice Saturday, the festivities begin at 5pm with a pregame tailgate party outside of the main Hara Arena box office and entrance featuring live music from Stadium Eleven as well as attractions and entertainment for the entire family. Busy Bouncing of Dayton will once again be providing inflatable bounce houses as part of this free family event.
The celebration continues inside the comfy confines of Hara Arena at 6pm when the gates officially open to fans, with the first 1,000 inside receiving free Gems Thunderstix noise makers courtesy of Kettering Medical Center.
On the ice, fans will be hearkened back to the golden days of Dayton Gems hockey when the team debuts and wears special "throwback" uniforms featuring the original 1960's design from Dayton's storied professional hockey history. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase the special retro jerseys with a live jersey auction immediately following the game in the main lobby.
In the stands, fans will notice a number of new additions and modifications to the overall game presentation and entertainment, including the release of the first edition of "The Gems Report", a free monthly publication courtesy of Gems corporate partner Cox Media Group. The Gems Report features player information, behind the scenes articles as well as features on what's happening in Gems hockey, and copies are free to every fan at every Gems home game all season long!
