Quad City's Eric Giosa Named Oakley CHL Player of the Week

GLENDALE, AZ (October 31, 2011) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Quad City center Eric Giosa has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ending October 30, 2011.

The Northville, Michigan native collected the game winning goal in both Mallards victories last week and finished with multiple point efforts in each contest. In Quad City's two games against Bloomington, Giosa finished with three goals and one assist and was a +4.

In Friday's 6-5 overtime win against the Blaze, the 5-11, 182-pound forward assisted on the game's first goal and then collected the unassisted game winning goal midway through overtime. He followed that up by setting the tone with two first period goals in the Flock's 6-2 win in Bloomington on Saturday night, the first of which came less than a minute into the game and the second accounting for the game winner.

Quad City is 2-1-0 on the young season sitting along in third place in the Turner Conference.

The former Sacred Heart University star is in his third professional season and second with the Mallards. In 118 career pro games, Giosa has 41 goals and 46 assists and is coming off his best season where he totaled 26 goals and 22 assists in 56 games with Quad City during the 2010-11 campaign.
