Dayton edges Lynx 2-1

AUGUSTA, GA - Tyler Plante made 28 saves and Joe Van Culin scored the game winning goal on the power play late in the second period as the Dayton Bombers defeated the Lynx 2-1 at James Brown Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Kevin Quick scored the lone goal for Augusta. Quick fired a shot from the left wing circle at 8:19 of the first period on the power play past Plante to give the Lynx a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

In the second period, a pair of goals allowed Dayton to grab the lead for good. First at 8:40 Justin Bowers fired a shot from the right circle to even things at one. Then a power play goal to put the Bombers ahead for good at 18:22 of the second. Joe Van Culin, from the high slot, beat Mike Brodeur and Dayton held of some strong shooting attempts down the stretch from the Lynx for a 2-1 victory.

Brodeur made 20 saves for Augusta. The Lynx finished 1 for 3 on the power play while Dayton went 1 for 6.

The Lynx now head on the road, Thanksgiving Night, to take on the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m.

The next home game for the Lynx is on Saturday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. vs. the Charlotte Checkers. Come celebrate Louie the Lynx's birthday with local mascots and $10 seats anywhere in the arena. Also, the Lynx are holding their annual Teddy Bear Toss Night. Fans are encouraged to bring stuffed animals for donation to kids throughout the CSRA.
