Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Lake County Captains (affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians) in the second game of a five-game series.

Last Game: Wednesday: Postponed, rain. Tuesday: Lake County 1, Dayton 0.
All About De La Cruz: Elly De La Cruz (seventh youngest position player in the league with at least 120 AB) has become just the third player in Dragons history to hit 20 home runs and steal 20 bases in a season, joining Wily Mo Pena (2001) and Jose Siri (2017). De La Cruz did it in his first 71 games of the 2022 season...De La Cruz has been named Midwest League Player of the Week for the week ending July 10. For the week, De La Cruz batted .421 with five home runs and three stolen bases...De La Cruz has hit five home runs in his last five games...Twice within a three-day period (July 7 and July 9), De La Cruz hit a home run from both sides of the plate in the same game. No other Dayton player had done it once since Henry Rodriguez on April 12, 2010...Over his last 38 games (since May 25), De La Cruz is batting .336 with 14 home runs and 29 RBI. His slugging percentage since May 25 (.711) is second in Minor League Baseball. For the year, De La Cruz leads the MWL in OPS, and slugging percentage and is tied for the league lead in home runs while ranking in the top three in RBI, batting average, hits, runs, and extra base hits. He is fourth in stolen bases.
Roster Turnover: Since April, the following six Dragons players have been promoted to Double-A Chattanooga: starting pitchers Andrew Abbott and Connor Phillips; relief pitcher Spencer Stockton; first baseman Alex McGarry; outfielder Allan Cerda; and infielder Nick Quintana. Additionally, starting pitchers Bryce Bonnin and James Proctor are out for season with shoulder injuries and outfielder Rece Hinds is out until August with a broken hamate.
What's Next: The Dragons could qualify for the playoffs in one of two ways: 1) By winning the second half East Division title; 2) By finishing with the next best full-season record in the East Division (behind Great Lakes) should Great Lakes win the second half division title. If the same team wins both halves, the team with the next best full-season record qualifies as the second half representative.
Dayton is first in the MWL in home runs with 101, the most they have hit in a season since 2017 when they hit 112. The Dragons are on a pace to hit 161 on the year (131-game season). The club record is 144 in 2001 in a 139-game season.
The Dragons lead the league in batting strikeouts (their total of 947 is third most in Minor League Baseball). The club record for a season is 1,382 in 2004 (140 games). They are on pace for 1,513.
Over the last 26 games starting June 14, the Dragons have a team ERA of 6.48 (last in MWL; seventh highest mark in Minor League Baseball). Since June 14, they have allowed the most home runs and most walks in the league. However, over the last six games, the Dragons team ERA is 3.33 (fifth in the MWL) and they have allowed just two home runs (fewest in the league).
Tyler Callihan has hit safely in six straight games, batting .316.
Joe Boyle has an opponent's batting average of .082 on the year, which would lead all Minor League Baseball, but he is five innings short of the minimum number to qualify. His earned run average is 1.87.
Myles Gayman over his nine appearances since May 26 has posted a 1.89 ERA (19 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 4 BB, 21 SO).
