Beloit, WI - The Cedar Rapids pitching staff continued to dominate as the Kernels took care of Beloit 5-1 on Thursday evening, earning their fourth-straight win. David Festa fired a quality start with 6.0 innings of one-run ball while Brad Hanner and Hunter McMahon extended their scoreless inning streak to 14.0 frames in the series. Cedar Rapids improves to 52-32, 9-9 in the second half.

Kyler Fedko opened the game with a bang, clobbering the second pitch he saw out to left-center for a leadoff home run. Alerick Soularie followed with a double and scored a bit later on a sac fly to put the Kernels up 2-0.

Festa fired 6.0 innings, allowing one run while striking out six. He scattered four hits and walked three while throwing 55 strikes on 90 pitches. The righthander earned his eighth win of 2022, piling up 12 whiffs with a 62.5% first-pitch strike rate.

Beloit got a run back in the sixth, drawing the game to 2-1. Yunior Severino provided some insurance with a two-run single in the eighth after Fedko and Soularie rapped back-to-back singles, then Will Holland made it 5-1 with a sac fly to score Wander Javier.

Hanner tossed a pair of scoreless frames to lock in his second hold before McMahon slammed the door with a zero in the ninth.

Game four of the series is set for 6:35 p.m. CT on Friday in Beloit.
