Dawson And Powell Added To All-Star Team

PORTLAND, February 27, 2008 - Portland LumberJax forward's Dan Dawson and Ryan Powell have been announced as reserves for the 2008 National Lacrosse League All-Star Team, the league announced today. Dawson and Powell will join starting defenseman Brodie Merrill on the West Division for the Jax. The NLL's eighth All-Star Game will be played at Rexall Place in Edmonton on Sunday, March 16 at 1 p.m. PST.

Now a three-time All-Star, Dawson is leading Portland in goals scored (16), assists (21) and points scored (37). Dawson's other two All-Star appearances were in 2005 and 2007. In '05, he scored three goals and in '07 he added one assist during the East Davison's 20-16 win in Portland.

Powell, the franchise leader in assists (76) and points scored (123), is in the midst of another fantastic season statistically. Through the first eight games, Powell has scored 12 goals and added 19 assists for 31 points.

This will be Powell's second All-Star Game, as the six-year pro played in last year's game, scoring four goals.
