Bridgewater, NJ - David Kubiak (6-1) threw a complete game, two-hit gem to lead the Somerset Patriots (30-19) to a 3-1 win and series sweep of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (16-35) before 6,289 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.

"I was just throwing strikes," said Kubiak. "That's pretty much been my plan all year and it's worked out. [Catcher Yovan Gonzalez] has done such a good job this year. I don't have to think. He just puts it down and I throw it and its been working well."

Kubiak struck out seven batters along the way, his one mistake came in the third inning when Josh McAdams hit a go-ahead solo home run (3) to break the scoreless tie.

Somerset tied up the game with a solo shot of their own by Michael Crouse (3) in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The score remained knotted up at 1-1 until the bottom of the seventh inning when Gonzalez gave the Patriots the lead with an RBI single.

Somerset then extended the lead with a run on a wild pitch that scored Scott Kelly in the bottom of the eighth inning for the 3-1 final.

James Dykstra (1-1) took the loss, allowing two runs- one earned- on three hits in two innings pitched.

The 2019 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home with a 7:05 pm game against the Long Island Ducks at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday, June 18th.
