Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Concacaf today announced the dates and times for the Quarterfinals of the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League. Seattle Sounders FC is set to host Club León of Liga MX in the first leg on Tuesday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m. PT before heading to Estadio León for the second leg on Tuesday, March 15 at 6:15 p.m. PT.
The Rave Green defeated F.C. Motagua 5-0 on aggregate in Round of 16 action to advance to the Quarterfinals, while Club León defeated its Round of 16 opponent Guastatoya by a 3-0 aggregate score. The two sides have recent history, with Sounders FC facing the Mexican club in the 2021 Leagues Cup Final in Las Vegas that saw a narrow 3-2 Léon victory.
Seattle is competing in its seventh Concacaf Champions League tournament, which crowns the best team from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Including this year, Sounders FC has advanced to at least the Quaterfinals in five of its seven appearances, including a run to the Semifinals in 2012-2013.
Following Thursday's win over F.C. Motagua, Brian Schmetzer's side faces a quick turnaround as it prepares to host Nashville SC in its MLS season opener on Sunday, March 27 at Lumen Field (5:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, iHeartMedia, El Rey 1360 AM).
