WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JUNE 27, 2011) - Winston-Salem scored two early runs and Andre Rienzo did not allow a run before a severe thunderstorm forced an early ending and the Dash won a 2-0 decision in seven innings on Monday night at BB&T Ballpark. Lightning and rain started during the seventh inning stretch and escalated quickly enough to force a delay before Winston came to bat in the bottom of the frame.

The Dash jumped out to a quick lead against Lynchburg starter Dimasther Delgado. In the first inning, Tyler Saladino reached on an error by third baseman Joe Leonard to lead off the frame. Jared Mitchell then walked before Jose Martinez tried to sacrifice the runners into scoring position. Instead, Delgado fielded the bunt and retired Saladino at third. During Ian Gac's at-bat Winston tried to execute a double steal, but Martinez was gunned down at second, leaving Mitchell at third. Gac followed with a single to score the first run of the game.

In the second, Mike Blanke and Jake Oester led off with consecutive singles. Kyle Colligan then grounded into a 6-3 double play that advanced Blanke to third. Daniel Wagner drove in Blanke with a single to center, putting the Dash up 2-0.

On the mound, Rienzo (2-3) worked out of some early jams in the first three innings before settling into a groove. The Brazilian worked seven scoreless innings and gave up five hits to pick up his third career complete game. Delgado (4-5) was hit with the loss after giving up the two earned runs on six hits in five innings.

Torrential rains started in the middle of the seventh inning and didn't let up, causing the game to be called. The delay lasted 52 minutes before the game was called official.

Winston-Salem and Lynchburg conclude their three-game series on Tuesday night at BB&T Ballpark at 7 p.m. LHP Matt Wickswat (0-0, 2.45) makes his first start for the Dash against RHP Zeke Spruill (5-7, 3.32).
