
Dash Send Tourists Packing in 5-2 Victory

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem Dash defeated the Asheville Tourists 5-2 on Thursday night at Truist Stadium.
It was a dominant night for starter Karan Patel who lasted four innings and allowed only one hit while walking two and striking out three.
Five scoreless innings on both sides of the ball led to a four-spot from the Dash in the sixth inning. Alex Destino crushed his 21st home run of the year - a two-run bomb - to put the Dash in front 2-0. Samir Dueñez doubled the lead on a two-bagger to right-center field.
Winston-Salem plated another in the seventh inning, after a single from Terrell Tatum, gave way to a line drive RBI single from Alex Destino to push the Dash ahead 5-0.
The Tourists fought back in the top of the ninth. Reliever Trey Jeans allowed a single and a double followed by a base knock from Yainer Diaz to bring home two and move the score to 5-2. Jeans tightened up and struck out the remaining two batters to secure a 5-2 victory for the Dash.
Wilber Perez nabbed a win for the Dash, while Alfredi Jimenez took the loss for Asheville. The Tourists still lead the series 2-1.
The two teams square off again on Friday night with a first pitch slated for 7:00 p.m. ET. The Dash have yet to announce their starter. Diosmerky Taveraswill take the hill for Asheville. Coverage begins at 6:45 on https://www.milb.com/winston-salem/team/broadcast-corner.
