
Dash Grab Sixth Straight Win in Series Opener against Asheville

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem Dash pulled away from the Asheville Tourists late to win the series opener 14-4.
The Dash got hot right away to start the night against Asheville. In the top of the first, Adam Hackenberg singled with the bases loaded to score Oscar Colas, then Shawn Goosenberg singled as well to plate Jason Matthews.
Asheville got a run back immediately, thanks to Colin Barber and his solo shot in the bottom of the first.
In the top of the third, Bryan Ramos got into one for Winston-Salem that left the yard and gave the Dash a 3-1 lead.
The Tourists battled back again in the fourth. Deury Carrasco launched a ball over the wall in right field, good for a two-run shot and a tie game.
Into the fifth, where Oscar Colas promptly gave the Dash the lead back on a solo home run out to left-center field.
Winston-Salem added on some insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Colas picked up another RBI on a double into straightaway center, which scored Duke Ellis. A fielding error and a wild pitch allowed two more runs to score, putting the Dash up 7-3 after the seventh.
The Dash stayed hot into the ninth, as Adam Hackenberg doubled in both Matthews and Ramos. Then, Alsander Womack singled to bring Hackenberg back around. The inning continued with a Duke Ellis RBI single, a fielder's choice put in play by Oscar Colas scored a run, then back to back RBI knocks by Jason Matthews and Bryan Ramos put the Dash ahead 14-3. All told, it was a 7-run inning for Winston-Salem.
Asheville got one run back in the ninth, but would fall by a final score of 14-4.
Sean Burke, who fanned seven hitters over five innings, earned the win, and Chayce McDermott took the loss.
