Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive took the field for the first game in an away series against the Hickory Crawdads. The Drive tried to rally in the seventh inning scoring five runs but would come up short losing 10-6.

Hickory was the first to strike. Aaron Zavala advanced to third on a wild pitch and tagged up on a fly ball hit by Trevor Hauver.

Nicholas Northcut scored the first run for Greenville in the fifth inning on a dinger to right field. Hickory took the lead back when Thomas Saggese hit an RBI double brining home two runs.

The Crawdads added insurance with homeruns from Keyber Rodriguez and Cody Freeman. Freeman drove Jake Guenther home on his four-base hit.

The seventh inning is when the Drive's bats really took off. Gilberto Jimenez set the tone with a double, which was followed by a Joe Davis home run. Nicholas Northcut didn't want to be left out, so he hit one to the parking as well. Stephen Scott and Tyler McDonough came home from Matthew Lugo's single.

The offensive efforts weren't enough. Hickory scored four runs in the eight to seal the deal. The first run came from an RBI off the bat of Cody Freeman. Evan Carter's RBI triple was two of the runs, and he came home on a wild pitch.

The Drive's Devon Roedahl is charged with the loss after he pitched one inning and is now 1-1. Hickory's Eudry's Manon claims the victory and is 1-0.

The Drive continue the away game series tomorrow with first pitched slated for 7 PM.
