WINSTON-SALEM, NC (MAY 5, 2013) - The Winston-Salem Dash dropped their second straight to the Salem Red Sox, falling 7-3 on Sunday afternoon at BB&T Ballpark.

As was the case in Saturday's game, Salem (14-14) would grab the lead in the game's very first frame. Keury De La Cruz, Brandon Jacobs and Blake Swihart all picked up two-out, run-producing knocks to give the Red Sox a 3-0 lead against starter Terance Marin (2-2).

In the bottom of the first, the Dash (15-15) would get one of those runs back. Chris Curley drove his fifth homer of the year to the opposite field, giving Winston their fifth home run of the series. The Dash lead the Carolina League and are fourth in High-A baseball with 29 long balls.

The Sox offense would get right back at it against Marin in the second. Bryan Johns and Matty Johnson started the inning with singles, and a walk loaded the bases for Garin Cecchini. Cecchini grounded out to drive home the frame's first tally, while the second came around on a wild pitch.

Marin settled in after enduring those rough first two frames, retiring 11 consecutive Salem swingers until a Brandon Jacobs double in the sixth. That double led to Salem's final tally against Marin, when Jacobs came in on a Henry Ramos single.

On the other side, Mike McCarthy (2-1) pitched well, surrendering just one run in five innings of work before giving way to his bullpen.

The Dash cut the lead to three against that bullpen in the seventh, scoring a pair against Noe Ramirez. A Martin Medina walk and Yoandy Barroso double put two on with two out for Adam Heisler. Heisler hit a slow ground ball that he beat out for an RBI single, and an error allowed a second run to score on the play.

The afternoon's final tally came off Cody Winiarski in the eighth. Ramos plated a run with a triple to wrap up the afternoon's scoring.

The Dash continue their six-game homestand Monday night at BB&T Ballpark when they welcome the Frederick Keys to town. Right-hander Justin Collop (2-2, 3.91 ERA) will be on the mound for Winston-Salem, while Frederick will go with lefty Eduardo Rodriguez (2-2, 3.90 ERA). The Pregame Dash begins at 6:45 on wsdash.com, and first pitch is set for 7.

The Dash are expected to reach their one millionth fan sometime this month, and one lucky fan in attendance on that historic night will have a chance to win one million dollars. For tickets, call (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
