WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Drew Garcia's walk-off RBI single in the 12th inning scored Mike Richard from second base and the Dash came back in extra innings to defeat Potomac 13-12 on Friday night at BB&T Ballpark. Winston trailed 12-11 entering the bottom of the inning but walked off with a win for the second straight night. The game featured a combined 25 runs, 40 hits, and lasted four hours, 31 minutes.

Each team overcame early deficits to set the tone for a seesaw affair. Winston-Salem (15-12, 58-39) scored a pair of runs in the in the second inning off Brad Peacock to strike first. Jordan Cheatham hit a two-run double to give the Dash a 2-0 lead.

Joe Serafin threw scoreless frames to start his outing, but surrendered six runs in the third. Potomac (14-12, 45-51) sent ten men to the plate, with red-hot Tyler Moore collecting the big hit, a three-run double with the bases loaded to give the P-Nats a 4-2 lead. The Nationals scored two more in the frame and took a 6-2 lead.

Peacock was unable to hold the big cushion, as the Dash also batted around in the third. The first four Winston players had base hits and all four came home to score. Seth Loman, Logan Johnson, and Cheatham knocked in the runs to tie the game at six.

The Dash took its second lead in the fourth, scoring three runs off reliever Carlos Martinez. Again, Loman and Johnson drove in runs along with Jose Martinez to put Winston ahead 9-6.

Each team scored in the fifth before Potomac notched two in the sixth to cut its deficit to one run. Winston plated a run in the seventh inning to go on top 11-9, but the lead did not hold. Tyson Corley gave up a game-tying two-run double to Sean Rooney in the eighth.

Winston could not take advantage of a bases-loaded opportunity in the ninth inning, as Jose Martinez hit into a 5-2 double play to send both teams to extras, tied at 11.

The Nationals appeared poised for a victory when Derek Norris hit a solo home run off Garrett Johnson with one out in the top of the 12th. Despite the onslaught of runs, it was the game's only homer and it put the P-Nats ahead 12-11.

Potomac closer Dan Leatherman came on in the bottom of the inning in search of his 12th save of the season. Martinez led off with a single and moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt and a fielder's choice. Leatherman (3-2) then hit Mike Richard to put men on the corners with two outs and Brandon Short coming up. Short fell behind 1-2 before grounding a ball past the dive of third baseman Josh Johnson. Martinez scored from third, tying the game at 12.

Drew Garcia followed by lining the first pitch he saw to left-center. Richard scored easily from second base to end the game and sent the Dash to its second walk-off win in as many nights. The team emptied the dugout, celebrating its ninth walk-off win of the season.

Johnson (1-0) earned the win with two innings of work, while Leatherman suffered a loss and a blown save.

Winston-Salem pounded out 26 hits, setting a new season-high for the second time in less than a week. The Dash had 23 hits in a loss last Saturday at Salem. Every Winston player had at least one hit, with eight of the nine starters collecting multiple hits. Garcia and Jon Gilmore each set new career-highs with five hits each, while Loman tied a career-high with four. The 2-3-4 batters went a combined 14 for 21 with four doubles, a triple, six runs batted in, and seven runs scored.

The game was the second longest of the season, trailing only the five hour, 30 minute, 20-inning marathon on May 19-20. It was the third time Winston and Potomac have gone to extra-innings at BB&T Ballpark; the Dash has won two of those games.

The Dash goes for the series victory on Saturday night when RHP Stephen Sauer (6-6, 4.74) opposes RHP Marcos Frias (3-4, 6.24) in a 7 p.m. start. The audio broadcast begins at 6:45 on www.wsdash.com.
