Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JULY 7, 2010) - The Winston-Salem Dash today announced several roster moves prior to the team's game against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Catcher Josh Phegley was placed on the disabled list and RHP Tyson Corley was promoted to AAA Charlotte. In a pair of corresponding moves, the Dash received catcher/infielder Adam Ricks from Charlotte and outfielder Jordan Cheatham (pronounced CHEET-um) from low-A Kannapolis.

This is Phegley's second trip to the disabled list this season. He was activated on June 27 after spending most of the season on the D.L. with a medical issue. He was batting .200 (3 for 15) since his return from the D.L. with one double and one RBI. Overall, he was batting .238 with two doubles and two RBI for the season with Winston-Salem.

Corley will play for his third White Sox affiliate in the last month. After starting the season with Winston-Salem, he was promoted to AA Birmingham in late April before returning to the Dash on June 11. With Winston, he was 0-0 with a 2.30 ERA and one save in 14 appearances.

Ricks returns to Winston-Salem for the fifth consecutive season. He has spent most of this season on Charlotte's roster, playing in eight games and hitting .083 (2 for 24) with one double and one RBI. Ricks has not played in a game since May 31. He also appeared in one game for Birmingham, going 0 for 3 with an RBI on May 9. The White Sox' tenth round selection in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft, Ricks first came to Winston-Salem in 2006 after playing for most of the season in Kannapolis. He has split time playing for Winston three other White Sox farm teams over the last five seasons. In 164 games with the Dash/Warthogs, Ricks has hit .199 (115 for 579) with four home runs, 26 doubles, and 60 RBI.

This will be Cheatham's second stint with Winston-Salem this season. He began the year with the Intimidators before joining the Dash in late-April. Cheatham hit .266 with one home run and 11 RBI in 23 games with Winston before being re-assigned to Kannapolis in early-June. He was hitting .273 with three home runs and 18 RBI in 39 games for the Intimidators this season.

The Dash roster remains at the Carolina League limit of 25 players.

Winston-Salem begins a six-game home stand with a series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans tonight at BB&T Ballpark.
