THE HILLCATS: Monday night Winston-Salem completed a three-game series sweep of Lynchburg with a 5-3 win...After winning five out of six and three in a row, the Hillcats have lost their last five contests...Tonight is the first game of the three-game set with Wilmington and the fourth contest of a six-game homestand...The Cats are trying to avoid losing their sixth straight tonight, which would match their longest skid of the season...

VS. WILMINGTON: The Hillcats are 4-7 against the Blue Rocks this season and 2-2 in the Hill City...The Cats went 5-15 against the Rocks during the regular season last year, 3-7 at City Stadium and 2-8 at Frawley Stadium...Wilmington was the only team in the Carolina League with a winning record versus the Hillcats last season...In the post-season though, the Cats topped the Rocks three-games-to-two in a best of five series to win the Northern Division Championship and advance to the Mills Cup...Wilmington has the all-time advantage over Lynchburg 186-125...

YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO RENT HERE ANYMORE! Monday night the Hillcats dropped their ninth straight game to start their 20-game season series with the Dash...Winston-Salem, which leads the Carolina League with a .296 batting average, is hitting .333 versus Lynchburg this season with 13 home runs in nine games...Lynchburg's pitching staff is fifth in the league with a 3.94 ERA, but against the Dash they are posting a 5.54 ERA...The Cats are batting .312 (11.6 hits per game) versus the Dash, but have only scored 3.4 runs per contest (31 runs in nine games) against them...Lynchburg meets Winston-Salem again for a three-game series that begins on Saturday...

EARLY EXIT: In the top of the seventh inning on Monday night Lynchburg and Winston-Salem engaged in a bases clearing incident...Home plate umpire Joey Amaral issued warnings after RHP Nick Christiani threw a pitch that missed inside to OF Ozzie Lewis...The next pitch from Christiani hit Lewis, who then moved towards the mound before C Jordan Wideman intercepted Lewis and the two wrestled to the ground...The dugouts and the bullpens cleared on to the field and collided on the infield...Christiani, Lewis, Hillcats Manager Pat Kelly, and Winston-Salem's 1B Seth Loman and SS Eduardo Escobar were all ejected from the ballgame...

THE OTHERS: In the three game series against Winstons-Salem, Lynchburg stranded 36 men on base...The Hillcats were 6-for-42 (.143) with men in scoring position and only two of those six hits brought in a run...The Cats had 36 hits in the series (12 per game), but scored just nine runs (three per game)...Every player in the Cats starting line-up had a hit on Monday night...

TOPS AT THE TAIL END: RHP Justin Freeman and LHP Donnie Joseph both pitched on Monday night and the two combined for two and 2/3 scoreless innings of relief...Freeman has now worked seven straight games and nine consecutive innings without allowing a run...Joseph has not allowed a run in his last 11 and 1/3 innings and ten games...They are tied for the team lead with six saves on the season...

PRINCE FELIX: OF Felix Perez went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored on Monday night...He has now hit in five straight games and in those contests he is a combined 11-for-22 (.500) with a double, three RBI and four runs scored...His four-hit performance on Sunday night matched the most hits in a game by a Hillcat this season and he was just the fourth Cat to accomplish the feat this year...Over the last five games Perez has raised his batting average from .200 to .357...

THE THIN PURPLE LINE: RHP Jordan Hotchkiss gave up a six runs on nine hits in five and 2/3 innings on Sunday night to take his second loss of the season...The right-hander was one out away from getting through six innings with three runs allowed (a quality start) when he gave up a three-run home run that brought his night to an end...All six of the runs the Dash scored against him were accounted for with two, three-run homers...The six earned runs and nine hits were a career-high for Hotchkiss who had not given up more than two runs in an outing this season...In four appearances (one start) against Winston-Salem, he is 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA (eight earned runs in nine and 1/3 innings) and a blown save...Four of the six homers he has given up have been to the Dash...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Bryan Paukovits was selected by the Royals in the 44th round of the 2006 as a draft-and-follow selection out of San Diego Mesa College...The Royals originally drafted him in the 45th round in 2005, but he did not sign...In 2007 he made his professional debut with Rookie Burlington and went 3-4 with a 4.91 ERA in 17 games (11 starts)...The righty missed all of 2008 after having Tommy John Surgery and returned last season with Rookie Idaho Falls...With the Chukars he went 4-3 with a 4.34 ERA in 13 games (12 starts)...This season he began with full season Low-A Burlington and went 3-3 with a 3.32 ERA in 13 games (nine starts) and was named to the Midwest League All-Star team...He has made two starts since his promotion and he gone 1-1 with an 11.74 ERA...His last start was against Lynchburg and he gave up four runs (two earned) in five innings to earn the win...
