WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JULY 29, 2011) - The Dash will celebrate the history of baseball in Winston-Salem during "Heritage Weekend" on August 5 - 7 at BB&T Ballpark. Fireworks, vintage uniforms, and special guests are included on the schedule for the weekend's events as the Dash host the Frederick Keys for a three-game series.

The highlight of the weekend will occur on Saturday, August 6, when the Dash will wear replica uniforms honoring the old Winston-Salem Pond Giants, a semi-pro team that played in the city from 1914 - 1998. Prior to the game, many former Pond Giants players and owners will be recognized on the field. During the game, a silent auction will be held on the BB&T Ballpark concourse and fans will be able to bid on the jerseys worn by the players that night.

"This is sure to be a fun and worthwhile way for the entire community to relive a bit of the past when it comes to baseball in Winston-Salem," said Dash president Geoff Lassiter. "Baseball has such a rich history here, as organized teams have been playing even before 'Winston' and 'Salem' became one city. On Heritage Weekend, our fans will have the opportunity to remember and honor some of the great baseball that was played here for so many years."

The celebration of Heritage Weekend will start with post-game fireworks on Friday, August 5 and conclude with "$1 Hot Dog Day" at ballpark concession stands. Details about the replica uniforms the Dash players and coaches will be wearing will be announced next week. There will be a photo opportunity for the news media to see some players model the uniform prior to that Saturday's game. The day and time of that event will also be announced early next week.

Fans may purchase tickets for Heritage Weekend at www.wsdash.com, the BB&T Ballpark box office, or by contacting the Dash at (336) 714-2287.
