Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release
HIDALGO, TEXAS - The NBA D-League Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced that Kendall Dartez returned to the Vipers today after a stint in the Chinese Basketball Association.
To make room on the roster, the Vipers waived point guard Jared Jordan due to injury.
A 6-11, 235 pound power forward out of Louisville, Dartez started the first 11 games of the season for the Vipers, averaging 13.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Dartez recorded 20 points and 12 rebounds (seven offensive) for his lone double-double on December 3rd against the Erie BayHawks. He scored a season-high 24 points to go with eight rebounds and two blocks on December 19th against the Iowa Energy. Dartez last played for the Vipers on December 21st.
"Kendall's team in China was not aware that Kendall was not a true center, so we are glad to have him back. He looks to be in great shape and is carrying the ball very well. He'll also help us in the rebounding department, which we need help in," said head coach Clay Moser.
Jordan suffered a high left ankle sprain against Tulsa on January 21st and missed Friday's win in Austin. The Vipers retain his rights, and once ready to play, Jordan can be placed back on the active roster.
"We are anxiously awaiting the return of Jared from his high ankle sprain," said Moser.
Jordan is eighth in the league with 5.9 assists and sixth with 2.2 steals per game. He is averaging 8.0 points per game and shooting .368 from behind the arc, third best on the team and tops among guards.
