IDAHO'S JACKSON NAMED NBA D-LEAGUE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Luke Jackson of the Idaho Stampede has been named NBA D-League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Jan. 20, 2009. Jackson is the first Idaho player to earn the honor this season. Jackson led the Stampede to a 2-1 record last week averaging 24.3 points, 6.7 assists and 5.0 rebounds. He scored a season-high 27 points in a win over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Saturday at Qwest Arena in Boise. A 6-7 forward, Jackson is averaging 16.5 points in his third season with the Stampede. Originally selected in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Jackson has earned three GATORADE Call-Ups from the Stampede over the past two seasons.
Other top performers last week included Albuquerque's Will Conroy, who averaged 30.7 points and 8.8 assists in four games for the Thunderbirds; Bighorn Patrick Ewing, Jr., who averaged 24.0 points and 7.3 rebounds in three games for Reno; Iowa's Othyus Jeffers, who averaged 20.7 points and 12.7 rebounds while leading the Energy to a 2-1 record for the week; James White, who averaged 32.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in four games for the Anaheim Arsenal; and Austin's Marcus Williams, who averaged 26.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in three games for the Toros.
TULSA 66ers MAKE ROSTER MOVE
The Tulsa 66ers have acquired guard Gary Ervin. The 6-foot, 182 lbs. player from the University of Arkansas averaged 8.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 18 games earlier this season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Ervin joins the team in Des Moines for today's contest in Iowa. He will wear jersey number 15. MONDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Monday's games
Dontell Jefferson erupted for 18 of his 38 points in the fourth quarter as the Utah Flash defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in overtime, 123-114. Andre Ingram also had a solid game for the Flash, who shot 53 percent from the floor in the game, with 21 points. Carlos Wheeler and James Lang combined for 23 boards.
Walker Russell led the Mad Ants with a 29 point, 13 assists double-double. Ron Howard followed with 25 points. Chris Hunter and Taj McCullough both finished one rebound shy of double-doubles, Hunter with 21 and McCullough 20. Dewitt Scott added 12 rebounds for Fort Wayne and Sean. Sonderleiter contributed 10.
ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS: A look at D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games:
15 players with D-League experience competed in seven NBA games last night, 3 as starters.
Playing 29 minutes, Steve Novak erupted for 21 points off the bench for the Clippers.
As a starter for Milwaukee, Ramon Sessions tallied 18 points. Sessions also grabbed four rebounds and three steals.
Daequan Cook, recorded 16 points off the bench for Miami, as the Heat defeated the Hawks 95-79.
Starting for the Wizards, Andray Blatche scored 12 points and added six rebounds.
Philadelphia's Louis Williams finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
Houston's Rafer Alston contributed seven points as a starter. Teammate Von Wafer added nine.
