Portland Sea Dogs News Release
Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs (19-19, 59-48) drop series with 5-1 loss to the Hartford Yard Goats (17-19, 46-57) on Saturday night in front of the 17th sellout crowd of the year at Hadlock Field.
Brainer Bonaci recorded a multi-hit game going two-for-four with a single along with his first double in Double-A. Nick Yorke extended a six-game hit streak with a double (16) in the bottom of the fourth.
Portland struck first in the bottom of the fourth to take the 1-0 lead. Bonaci reached with his first double of Double-A before an RBI double from Nick Yorke (16) brought home Bonaci to score.
Hartford responded with two runs in the top of the fifth after a fielding error scored Grant Lavigne along with an RBI single from Warming Bernable to put the Yard Goats on top 2-1.
Kyle Datres hit an RBI single in the top of the seventh to extend the 3-1 Hartford lead.
Two more runs scored for Hartford in the top of the eighth after Niko Decolati grounded into a force out to score Lavigne before an RBI single from Jose Cordova made it 5-1 Yard Goats.
Hartford starter RHP Andrew Quezada (4-5, 3.94 ERA) earned the win after pitching a complete game allowing one run on six hits while walking one and striking out five. The loss was issued to Portland starter RHP Isaac Coffey (5-2, 2.97 ERA) after pitching 6.0 innings allowing two runs on two hits while walking one and striking out four.
The Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field tomorrow, August 13, 2023 for the final game of a six-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats. First pitch for game six is slated for 1:00pm. Portland will start the RHP Wikelman Gonzalez (1-0, 1.71 ERA) while Hartford will give the ball to RHP Case Williams (1-10, 6.33 ERA).
