
Reading Falls to New Hampshire Saturday

(Manchester, NH) - The Reading Fightin Phils (17-20, 45-60) fell 11-1 to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (14-21, 49-54) on Saturday night. With the win, New Hampshire clinches this week's series, marking its third series win over Reading this season.
Zach Haake (L, 0-3) got the start and struggled over four innings for Reading. He allowed four earned runs on five hits while striking out five. Andrew Schultz followed and allowed three runs over an inning of work. Carlos Francisco has a scoreless outing, but Keylan Killgore allowed a run and Tommy McCollum was last out of the bullpen and surrendered three-earned.
Abdiel Mendoza (W, 1-1) started for the Fisher Cats and kept Reading's bats quiet. He went five innings and allowed just one run in his first Double-A victory. New Hampshire's bullpen combined to throw four-shutout innings to finish off a strong night on the mound.
New Hampshire's offense was catalyzed by four home runs, including two from Miguel Hiraldo. Alan Roden and Riley Tirotta each homered as well. Hiraldo also had three hits and Steward Berroa had a two-hit night for the Fisher Cats.
Reading registered five hits on the evening, with Baron Radcliff and Herbert Iser each registering two. The Fightin Phils only other hit came from Oliver Dunn, but they did work seven walks in the contest, including three from Nick Ward and two from Jhailyn Ortiz. Reading was 0-for-16 with runners' in scoring position and stranded 11 men on base.
The Fightin Phils lone run of the night came on a sacrifice fly from Carlos De La Cruz in the top of the fifth. New Hampshire was helped by three runs in each of the first, fifth and eighth innings,
Reading and New Hampshire are back in action Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. LHP Matt Osterberg is scheduled to make his Reading debut, and RHP Alejandro Melean is slated to be on the mound for New Hampshire. Video coverage is available on MiLB TV or the Bally Live App.
