
Dantzler Drives in Three in Loss to Clearwater

DUNEDIN, FL - L.B. Dantzler drove in three runs on two hits and also walked and scored on Tuesday night, but the Dunedin Blue Jays (53-67) topped the Clearwater Threshers (69-53), 9-4.
The Jays got off to a fast start offensively, plating two runs during their first at bat. Anthony Alford led the frame off with a walk and he was immediately advanced to second on a single by Christian Lopes. A batter later, L.B. Dantzler doubled to right, bringing Alford home. Matt Dean delivered the other run in the inning, scoring Lopes on an RBI groundout.
The Threshers cut the deficit in half in the second, but took over the lead with a three-run third. Rhys Hoskins had a big RBI double in the inning.
Clearwater extended its lead with a single tally in the fifth and sixth innings to go up 6-2. Willians Astudillo doubled in a run in the fifth and Jesmuel Valentin plated Malquin Canelo on an RBI groundout.
Hoskins punctuated the game with a three-run homer in the 9th inning, giving the threshers a 9-2 advantage. Dantzler's homer in the home half pulled Dunedin to within 9-4.
Alonzo Gonzalez suffered the loss for the Jays and Matt Imhof tallied the win for the Threshers.
The Dunedin Blue Jays and Clearwater Threshers will finish off their three-game series tomorrow, Wednesday, August 8th at 6:30PM. Jeremy Gabryszwski will getting the nod in the finale against Mark Leiter for Clearwater.
