Bradenton Marauders News Release
Port St. Lucie, FL - The Marauders (32-19, 64-57) won their second straight with a 5-2 road win over the St. Lucie Mets (25-26, 60-61) at Tradition Field on Tuesday night. Four Bradenton pitchers teamed to strike out nine Mets.
A David Wright throwing error with one out in the third inning helped open the flood gates for a four-run Bradenton inning. A wild throw from the rehabbing seven-time MLB All-Star on DH Justin Maffei's grounder to third led to a prolonged inning in which the Marauders did the bulk of their damage. Maffei's grounder plated LF Jeff Roy with the tying run, erasing a 1-0 deficit. 1B Jordan Steranka followed with a two-run single and C Jin-De Jhang also notched an RBI hit.
Jhang plated the last Bradenton run with a solo home run in the sixth. Three of his four home runs have come in the team's last 12 games.
RHP Junior Lopez pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief of RHP Luis Heredia to earn the win. RHP Montana DuRapau is now 10-for-10 on save opportunities.
The win keeps Bradenton three games behind Palm Beach in the South Division 2nd Half standings.
