
Damien Wilkins Leads Iowa Energy to Win in Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Iowa Energy (7-9) won 112-106 over the Grand Rapids Drive (10-8) Wednesday night at the Deltaplex Arena.
The Energy were led by Damien Wilkins with a game-high 32 points and 5 rebounds. Larry Owens added 17 points and 7 rebounds. Seven Energy players scored in double figures. The Drive were led by Lorenzo Brown with 29 points and 8 rebounds.
Iowa shot 65 percent from behind the arc tonight, hitting 13 of 20 three-point shots. Malik Smith led the team with four three-pointers while Diante Garrett and Larry Owens added three each.
The Energy jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter behind Damien Wilkins' 12 points. The Energy led 29-23 at the end of the first quarter. Iowa stayed hot during the second quarter, opening up a 13-point lead midway through the quarter. Iowa would take a 61-56 lead at halftime. Wilkins had 22 first-half points.
The Drive were able to keep close during the third quarter, briefly taking the lead midway through the third. The Energy would take back the lead at the end of the third, leading 89-84. Iowa would not trail again in the game. A late attempt at a comeback by Grand Rapids came up short with the Energy taking the win 112-106.
The Energy will travel to Oklahoma City to play the Blue on Friday at 7 p.m. The Energy return home Sunday for back-to-back games. Sunday they take on the Idaho Stampede at 4 p.m. and Monday they play the Westchester Knicks at 7 p.m.
