Utah Jazz Signs Elliot Williams to 10-Day Contract

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.-The Utah Jazz have signed guard Elliot Williams to a 10-day contract as a GATORADE Call-Up from the Santa Cruz Warriors, the team announced today. Williams's signing marks the first Call-Up in Santa Cruz this season.

Williams, 25, has appeared in 16 games (all starts) with the Santa Cruz Warriors this season, averaging 21.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 7.7 assists in 37.2 minutes while hitting 46.6 percent from the field.

The No. 2 overall pick of the 2014 NBA D-League Draft, Williams came to Santa Cruz with 91 games of NBA experience. He was drafted 22nd overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2010 NBA Draft, and saw only 2 years of NBA play due to injury, averaging 5.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 14.4 minutes.

A native of Memphis, Tenn. and former McDonald's All-American, Williams played one season at Duke (2008-09) before transferring to the University of Memphis (2009-10). He averaged 17.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 33.3 minutes his sophomore season at Memphis. Williams was named the 2010 Conference USA Newcomer of the Year and earned 2010 Conference USA First Team honors before becoming an early entry into the NBA Draft.

Williams becomes the 14th D-League Call-Up in Jazz history, and the third this season.

He will wear uniform #25 for the Jazz.
