Dallas Sidekicks Announce Signing of Champion Forward Alex Megson

ALLEN, Texas (Dec. 16, 2015) - The Dallas Sidekicks officially announced on Friday the signing of forward Alex Megson to their roster for the remainder of the 2014-15 season. Megson will join the Sidekicks this Sunday, January 18, when they take on Oxford City FC of Texas at Allen Event Center.
The 28-year-old Washington native spent the first half of the MASL season in Rochester, scoring three goals for the Lancers. Last season, Megson played all 20 regular season games with the 2014 MISL Champion Missouri Comets, contributing 17 points.
"We are building our team around the goal of reaching a fifth franchise championship, and Alex is a proven winner with a great attitude and skill set," Dallas Sidekicks Director of Soccer Operations Nick Stavrou said.
Megson's career began in 2010 with the Chicago Riot of the MISL, where he was named to the 2010-11 All-Rookie Team. From there he put up 23 points with the Syracuse Silver Knights during the 2011-12 season before making his way back to Chicago, where he helped the Soul qualify for the playoffs with the addition of 26 points. Megson is the son of former Seattle Sounder and Tacoma Star Neil Megson, and the nephew of footballer and Premier League manager Gary Megson.
"We are extremely excited to add him to the lineup and make a good run in these last seven games." Stavrou said.
This Sunday the Dallas Sidekicks (8-5) take on Oxford City FC of Texas (10-4) for the third time this season. With the Sidekicks looking for key playoff positioning, the 3 p.m. match is a crucial one.
