
Blast Defeat Wave 5-3

The Blast traveled to Milwaukee on Friday night for their third and final matchup of the regular season against the Wave. In a high intensity matchup well played by both teams, the Blast defeated the Wave 5-3 for their 11th win in a row.
The game got off to a fast paced start with both teams focusing on defensive play. The Wave were able to attack the net early but the Blast defense stepped up. Goalie William Vanzela recorded 9 saves in the quarter while the defense recorded 4 blocks in front of him. With only 13 seconds left in the quarter the Blast were able to record the first goal of the game when Mike Deasel scored off an assist from Diego Zuniga. At the end of the first the Blast led 1-0.
The Wave began the second quarter with a goal at the 42-second mark from JC Banks to tie the game at 1. The Blast were able to answer when Adauto Neto recorded his 5th goal of the year at the 9:03 mark assisted by Adriano Dos Santos. Both teams played aggressively offensively and defensively as both recorded 15 shots in the half. At the half the Blast led 2-1.
The second half began with a Milwaukee goal to tie the game at 2. JC Banks recorded his second goal of the game at the 2:58 mark off an assist from Bato Randoncic for the only goal of the quarter. The Wave were able to record 11 shots in the quarter but the Blast defense held strong. William Vanzela recorded 6 saves while Pat Healey and Adriano Dos Santos recorded blocks in the quarter including a goal saving block by Healey. The 3rd quarter ended with the score 2-2.
The Blast offense was finally able to break though the Wave defense during the final quarter. Adauto Neto recorded his second goal of the game at the 4:27 mark off of Pat Healey's 11th assist of the season. The Blast didn't look back after gaining the lead as Vini Dantas added his 7th goal of the year off an assist from Tony Donatello and before Adriano Dos Santos recorded a goal of his own to put the Blast up by 3. After bringing on the 6th attacker Milwaukee's Ian Bennett was able to find the back of the net but the Blast defense buckled down to seal the Blast victory. The final score was 5-3.
The Blast move to 11-0 on the season and 3-0 against the Milwuakee Wave sweeping the regular season series. The Blast were carried all night by their strong goalie and defensive play. William Vanzela recorded 24 saves in net for the Blast while blast captain Pat Healey recorded numerous blocks on potential Wave shots. Offensively for the Blast, Adauto Neto led the way with two goals.
The Blast will travel to Detroit tomorrow night to match up against the Waza Flo. Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m. from the Melvindale Civic Center.
