FC Dallas News Release
DALLAS (May 19, 2015) - Organizers of the Dallas Marathon today announced the creation of a year-round race series in collaboration with the Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers and FC Dallas. The RunDallas Race Series is designed to promote health and fitness in the Dallas community through running and physical activity, a goal collectively shared by each of the participating organizations. The race series will also help increase awareness of these running events in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
"We strive to create fun and memorable experiences through running events, and we're excited to align with professional sports franchises that share our passion for fitness like the Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers and FC Dallas," said Patrick Byerly, president of the Dallas Marathon. "The RunDallas Race Series will help deliver an entertaining lineup of year-round running events for the community to participate in, and will add a new level of energy to Dallas Marathon race weekend each December."
To complete the RunDallas Race Series, one must finish a series of four races throughout the calendar year, culminating in the running of the Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon or Behringer Relay. 2015 RunDallas Race Series events include:
- The inaugural FC Dallas Footy 5K and Fun Run presented by VAZATA on July 11
- Rangers Labor Day Race Presented by Medical Center Arlington on Sept. 7
- The Mavs Run This Town 5K in October, date TBD
- The 45th running of the Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon or Behringer Relay on Dec. 13
Upon completion of all four races, participants will earn a special RunDallas Race Series medal, awarded at the Dallas Marathon finish line on Sunday, December 13.
The FC Dallas Footy 5K and Fun Run Presented by VAZATA will be held at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Proceeds from the event benefit the FC Dallas Foundation. To register for the race, visit FCDallas.itsyourrace.com/register.
"The Dallas Marathon Run Dallas Race Series is a special partnership that brings together Dallas professional sports teams with the Dallas Marathon to support healthy, active lifestyles, and FC Dallas is proud to be a part of it," said Dan Hunt, president of FC Dallas.
Rangers Labor Day Race Presented by Medical Center Arlington will be held at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. The 5K course follows a scenic route through Arlington's central entertainment district including Globe Life Park, AT&T Stadium and Six Flags Over Texas. Proceeds from the event benefit the Texas Rangers Foundation. For more information, visit texasrangers.com/race.
"The Texas Rangers and Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation are pleased to again partner with the Dallas Marathon this December. Health is one of the Rangers Foundation's focuses, and running is one of the best ways to get active. We hope that our fans and the greater community will participate in the Rangers Labor Day Race Presented by Medical Center Arlington, along with the races of the other teams and, of course, the Dallas Marathon," said Karin Morris, executive director of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.
The second annual Mavs Run This Town 5K benefits the Dallas Mavericks Foundation and will be held in October at American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas. A post-run party featuring live music and giveaways follows the event. For more information, visit mavs.com/mavs5k.
"The Dallas Mavericks looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Dallas Marathon as a way to get our fans involved in the community and make healthier lifestyle choices. Mavs Run This Town 5K is just the start, as we plan to join forces with other sports teams in the area to provide fun and enjoyable active experiences year-round," said George Killebrew, executive vice president of the Dallas Mavericks.
