BURN VS. COLORADO WEDNESDAY, CHICAGO ON SATURDAY

The Dallas Burn will host the Colorado Rapids this Wednesday, August 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cotton Bowl in the quarterfinals of the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. All tickets for Wednesday's match are only $5. Following Wednesday's match, the Burn will renew an old rivalry as they face the Chicago Fire on Saturday, August 10 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cotton Bowl in a game televised nationally on ESPN2.

BURN/RAPIDS SERIES NOTES

Wednesday's match will mark the first-ever meeting between these two squads in Open Cup competition...the two teams have squared off three times in MLS action this year, with the Burn posting a 2-0-1 record...Dallas leads the all-time series 12-10-1...the Burn currently has a four-game unbeaten streak vs. Colorado, going 3-0-1 and outscoring the Rapids 15-7 over that span...Jason Kreis has six goals and seven assists for 19 points in 23 games vs. Colorado.

BURN/FIRE SERIES NOTES

Chicago leads the all-time series, 8-7-1...the Burn has won the only meeting this year, posting a 3-1 victory at Chicago on June 15...all three meetings last year went to overtime, with each team winning one and the third resulting in a tie...the Burn has currently won four straight over Chicago at the Cotton Bowl, outscoring the Fire 13-7 over that span...Jason Kreis has six goals and seven assists for 19 points in 16 career games vs. the Fire while Ante Razov has six goals and one assist for 13 points in 11 games vs. Dallas.

LEG TWO OF BRIMSTONE CUP SATURDAY

The Burn's game vs. Chicago Saturday will mark the second leg of the annual Brimstone Cup. Fans of both the Burn and the Fire united to create the cup, which commemorates the rivalry that has developed between the two squads. The Brimstone Cup is awarded to the winner of the head-to-head competition between the two teams in a calendar year, including MLS games, playoff matches and Open Cup games. Chicago won the Brimstone Cup last year with a 3-1-2 record against the Burn. Through one leg this year, the Burn is 1-0-0 with a 3-1 victory at Chicago on June 15.

BURN HOME UNBEATEN STREAK ENDS AT EIGHT GAMES

With a 1-0 loss to Kansas City last Wednesday, the Burn saw its team record eight-game unbeaten streak come to an end. Prior to that loss, Dallas had gone 6-0-2 while outscoring the opposition 16-6. In addition, the loss snapped a five-game home win streak, a streak that had tied the team record for most consecutive home wins.

BURN PLAYERS MAKE IMPACT IN 2002 PEPSI MLS ALL-STAR GAME

The Burn had four players represented in last weekend's MLS All-Star Game, won 3-2 by the MLS squad. Forward Jason Kreis, in his fifth all-star game, netted one goal and assisted on the game-winner in 46 minutes. Joselito Vaca played the entire second half and registered an assist on a beautiful through ball to Marco Etcheverry. Ryan Suarez played 18 minutes before leaving the game with a lingering hamstring strain while Chad Deering played the second half for the US National Team.

REGISTER TO WIN A VIP NIGHT OUT WITH THE BURN

Burn fans can win a VIP night out with the Burn by visiting any Carnival Food Stores, Ole Foods, or Fiesta to register. Twelve lucky winners will win a prize package of premier level seats for the August 24 match vs. Los Angeles, Dallas Burn merchandise and a special autograph session after the game. Dallas Burn lunchboxes, courtesy of Procter and Gamble, will be handed out to the first 5,000 fans to the Cotton Bowl at the August 24 match.

Burn players featured on the lunchbox will be at grocery stores around the Metroplex this week handing out Procter and Gamble Lunchboxes at the following locations: Tuesday August 6th 5:00-6:30 p.m. - Eddie Johnson and Ronald Cerritos will be at the Fiesta at 8060 Spring Valley (Spring Valley and Coit Rd) Thursday August 8th 5:00-6:30 p.m. - Oscar Pareja and Jason Kreis will be at the Carnival Food Store located at 3460 Webb Chapel Extension at Lambardy Friday August 9th 5:00-6:30 p.m. - Ryan Suarez and Ronald Cerritos will be at the Ole Food Store in Plano 2300 Park East (Park and Jupiter Rd.)

SUAREZ, MAYOR AND CHIEF OF POLICE AT NATIONAL NIGHT OUT TUESDAY

Burn defender Ryan Suarez, Dallas Mayor Laura Miller and Dallas Police Chief Terrell Bolton will be at the 19th Annual National Night Out celebration at Bachman Lake on Tuesday, August 6 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Bachman Lake Pavilion.
