Dalbec and Netzer Homer in 6-5 Loss to Bowie

Portland, Maine - The Bowie Baysox (23-37) rode a five-run third inning and held off the Sea Dogs (21-37) to prevail 6-5 on Saturday night at Hadlock Field. The series heads to a rubber match on Sunday.

Portland took a 2-1 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Tate Matheny and an RBI groundout from Jeremy Rivera.

Bowie answered in a big way with a five-run third to take a 6-2 lead. All five runs scored with two outs off of Konner Wade. Brett Cumberland hit a two-run single then Jesmuel Valentin followed with a two-run double. Mason McCoy hit an RBI single for the fifth run of the frame.

Sea Dogs starter Darwinzon Hernandez was pulled from the ballgame after one scoreless inning, he allowed two hits, a walk, and struck out two. Wade (L, 0-1) went the next five innings in relief and allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits while walking one and fanning three.

Zac Lowther (W, 5-4) allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits in five innings while walking five and striking out four.

The Sea Dogs battled their way back in the middle innings. Brett Netzer hit a two-run homer off of Lowther in the fourth to cut the deficit to 6-4. In the fifth, Bobby Dalbec hit a solo home run to make it a 6-5 ballgame.

Francisco Jimenez pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the Baysox. Zach Muchinhern worked a perfect ninth and struck out the final two batters of the game.
