Hickory, NC - The Crawdads slugged their way to a 6-4 victory over the Asheville Tourists on Wednesday morning.
The Tourists got on the board first with a two-run homerun in the fourth inning off Crawdads starting pitching Hans Crouse.
Their lead didn't last long as the Crawdads responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Frainyer Chavez singled and Matt Whatley drew a walk to put two runners on for power-hitting Curtis Terry. Terry drove an 0-1 pitch over the left field wall to put the 'Dads ahead 3-2. The homerun is his fourth of the season.
Miguel Aparicio extended the 'Dads lead to three in the fifth inning with a two-run homer, his first of year. The Crawdads have hit the most homerun in the South Atlantic League so far this season with 16.
Crouse finished the day after 6.2 innings. He struck out eight and allowed three hits while walking none. He picked up the win to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The 'Dads added on an extra insurance run in the eighth. Chavez got things started with a leadoff double. Terry brought him in to score with a single. Terry's 19 RBIs lead the South Atlantic League by 5.
