August 25, 2015 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
Tampa, FL - The Tampa Yankees got off and running with a pair of runs in the first inning and led wire-to-wire in a 5-1 victory over the Dunedin Blue Jays in the rubber game of the series at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Tuesday night.
Ericson Leonora delivered a two-out two-run double off Dunedin starter Shane Dawson in the opening inning, after the Blue Jays gave Tampa an extra out by failing to execute on a run down play earlier in the frame.
The Jays cut the lead in half when Christian Lopes delivered an RBI single with two out in the third, but that is the closest they would get.
Dawson (2-2) departed after two-plus innings and suffered the loss. He was charged with four runs on two hits, with two walks and two strikeouts. Brad Allen, Arik Sikula, and Chris Smith combined to allow just one more run to the Yankees in six innings.
Dickie Joe Thon had two of the six Dunedin hits and scored the lone run for the D-Jays.
The D-Jays have the day off tomorrow before returning home for the final seven contests at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium this season. The homestand begins with the opener of a three-game series against the Lakeland Flying Tigers. Right-hander Jeremy Gabryszwski will take the hill for the D-Jays. First pitch is set for 6:30 ET and the action can be heard on DunedinBlueJays.com.
