Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release

Rewind:

Friday, Dakota (103) @ Los Angeles (101) - STAPLES Center

The D-Fenders made a strong second half surge against the Dakota Wizards, but could not overcome their early first half deficit. The D-Fenders outscored Dakota 54-47 in the second half but could not complete their big comeback in the final moments of the game. Trailing by 14 in the final quarter, the D-Fenders scratched away at the large deficit and finally caught Dakota at 101-101 with 1:02 to play. The Wizards controlled the ball with less than 4 seconds remaining in the game. Renaldo Major tipped in a loose ball on the offensive glass with 0.2 seconds on the clock, giving Dakota the victory. Major finished with a game-high 22 points. He also added 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Dakota forward Alfred Neale came off the bench to knock down five 3-pointers, giving him a total of 15 points. Los Angeles was led by backcourt mates Brian Chase and Jackie Manuel. The two combined for 6 shots from beyond the arc. Chase finished the contest with 20 points while Manuel added 17. Forward T.J. Cummings chipped in with 19 for the D-Fenders.

Sunday, Idaho (97) @ Los Angeles (75) - STAPLES Center

The D-Fenders got off to a lackluster start, dropping their third game in a row. Idaho controlled the opening quarter. Stampede guard Randy Livingston had 8 assists in the quarter, leading to his 15 for the game. Livingston finished the game with a triple-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to go along with his game-high assist total. Idaho center John Peter Ramos scored a game-high 20 points, while forward Jeff Graves had 17. Los Angeles was led by forwards Kevin "Butter" Johnson and Andre Patterson. Johnson put up a team-high 17 points, while Patterson collected a career-high 15 rebounds off the bench. The D-Fenders were able to pull themselves close by halftime, and only trailed the Stampede by 8, but scored a season-low 11 points in the third quarter. Los Angeles was outrebounded 47-41 for the game and shot a substandard 38% from the floor. Six Stampede players scored in double digits.

In the standings

At 9-7 on the season, the D-Fenders sit at .529 in the standings, good for third place in the Western Conference. The Colorado 14ers are holding in first place in the division at .667, just two games ahead of the D-Fenders. The Idaho Stampede sit in second place at .563, only one and a half games ahead of the D-Fenders.

Coming Up
