Colorado 14ers News Release

DENVER, Jan. 9 - The Colorado 14ers won their sixth straight home game Tuesday night by beating the Austin Toros 95-90 at the Broomfield Event Center. The win improves Colorado to 11-5 on the season. Austin falls to 3-14 with the loss.

Louis Amundson returned to the starting line-up to spark Colorado, posting 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots. Amundson had missed the last five games with a bruised hip.

"Fortunately for us Lou was back tonight and did what the game asked of him," said 14ers head coach Joe Wolf. "We played three games in four nights and this was a tough game for us. Lou's energy really helped us throughout this game."

After trailing by as many as 23 points in the second quarter, the Toros outscored the 14ers 35-20 in the third, and took a 77-76 lead with 10:03 to play in the fourth quarter. B.J. Elder's driving lay-up gave Austin an 84-83 lead with 4:16 to play. Colorado countered with two free throws by Amundson to put the 14ers back in front 85-84. A 10-6 run over the final 3:12 closed out the win for Colorado.

Elder led all scorers with 26 points, while Loren Woods controlled the paint in his first game with the Toros. Woods scored 8 points, pulled down 17 rebounds, and blocked 5 shots in 25 minutes of action.

The 14ers now head out on the road for back-to-back games this weekend. Colorado visits Albuquerque on Friday, Jan. 12, and Tulsa on Saturday, Jan. 13. Austin continues on the road at Anaheim on Thursday, Jan. 11, and at Los Angeles on Friday, Jan. 12.
