Idaho Stampede News Release
BOISE, Idaho - Joe Crawford posted 24 points as the Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated the Idaho Stampede 86-78 in Boise on Saturday night.
In a defensive struggle, Los Angeles benefited from five players scoring in double-figures. Ryan Forehan-Kelly and Dwayne Mitchell had 15 points apiece, while Darren Cooper and Gabriel Hughes added 14 and 10 points, respectively.
After trailing at the end of the third quarter, 60-59, Idaho opened the fourth quarter on a 10-4 run and established a 69-64 lead with 6:22 remaining. The D-Fenders answered with a 11-2 run which gave them a 69-77 advantage with 2:45 left. Brent Petway nailed a jumper with 1:04 remaining to close the gap to just four points, but the D-Fenders were able to hang on for a tough road win.
"It was a low scoring game but a hard fought defensive battle," said D-Fenders Head Coach Dan Panaggio. "We are happy because wins have come scarce so far this season. But we are making adjustments and constantly improving."
Dwayne Jones led the way for the Stampede, finishing the game with a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing a season-high 15 rebounds. Petway and Luke Jackson each had 13 points, while Jason Ellis recorded seven points and 17 rebounds.
Idaho finished the game with a 57-31 rebound advantage, but the D-Fenders managed to outscore the Stampede inside the paint, 40-26.
Idaho travels to Erie for a Wednesday night game. Los Angeles will visit the Utah Flash on Friday night.
