Washington, D.C. (July 2, 2007) - Major League Soccer announced today forward Nicholas Addlery has been named MLS Player of the Week following his goal-and-assist performance against the Colorado Rapids on June 28, a 4-1 victory. He is the third United player to earn Player of the Week honors this year, following Ben Olsen (Week 10) and Luciano Emilio (Week 11).

Addlrey earned his first career MLS goal - and the game-winner - in the 71st minute on Saturday when he received Fred's bending corner kick and smashed a header past Colorado's Bouna Coundoul. Addlery also picked up his first career assist, when in the 82nd minute he fed the ball to Fred, who slid through the defense and slotted home his first career goal.

Addlery was signed on April 24 of this year, following stings in Vietnam and Trinidad and Tobago. He is a product of Division II California University of Pennsylvania, where he scored 52 goals and 20 assists in 75 games.
