D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. (July 2, 2007) - D.C. United announced today the club has released midfielder Kasali Yinka Casal. The move frees up a senior roster spot for the Black-and-Red. United is next in action on Wednesday at the Kansas City Wizards. Kick-off at Arrowhead Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m. ET.
"It is unfortunate that we were unable to work out an arrangement with Kasali to keep him at United," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."
Casal was originally signed by United on February 2 of this year, from Fulham FC's reserve squad. The 19-year old made four appearances for the first team, notching an assist in the season-opening loss to Colorado. He also played in five reserve games (all starts) this year, totaling the second most minutes on the team (436) and contributing an assist.
