
D.C United to host United Celebrity Golf Tournament

Washington, D.C. (May 8, 2009) - United for D.C., the non-profit arm of D.C. United, announced today details of the Eighth Annual United Celebrity Golf Tournament, presented by Geico. Golfers will gather at Reston National Golf Course in Virginia for a 1:30 p.m. ET shotgun start on Thursday, July 9. Participants in this year's event will play alongside current and former United players and coaches as well as a host of other local sports and media celebrities, all while raising money for United for D.C. Those interested in playing may sign up at www.dcunited.com/golf Companies and other organizations have the opportunity to join forces with United for D.C. as a sponsor of this event. Sponsorship opportunities are available and include: a presenting sponsor at $6,000, all-hole sponsor at $4,000 and one-hole sponsor $2,000. To play in the tournament, the cost is $1,000 for a foursome with a celebrity, $750 per playing foursome and $250 for an individual. The tournament is limited to 36 foursomes. All pricing includes lunch and dinner, beverages, green fees, cart usage and prizes. Proceeds from the event will benefit United for D.C.'s signature programs including supporting free after-school soccer programming, promoting literacy and giving kids the opportunity to experience a professional soccer game.
