Real Salt Lake News Release

SANDY, UTAH (Friday, May 8, 2009) - Real Salt Lake (3-3-1, 10 pts.) will look to turn around its road struggles this Saturday, May 9, when the Claret-and-Cobalt will travel to Southern California to take on Major League Soccer's top squad, Chivas USA (6-1-1, 19 pts.). Kickoff from The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA, is set for 8:30 p.m. MT for a contest that will be televised live on KUTV 2.2 Digital / Comcast 111, beginning with the America First Credit Union Pre-Game Report at 8:00 p.m. Fans can also follow the action live via RSL's official radio partners: KALL 700 Sports (America First Credit Union Pre-Game Report begins at 7:30 p.m.) and Ke Buena 1600-AM.

Real Salt Lake trails the regular season series against Chivas USA by a 3-8-3 margin (4-8-4 including postseason play), and although that includes a 1-6-1 mark on the road, RSL did enjoy a fair amount of success against the Red-and-White in SoCal in 2008. The "Class of 2005" rivals split their pair of regular season games at The Home Depot Center last season - Chivas earning a 3-1 win on April 5, and Real Salt Lake exacting revenge via a 1-0 triumph on June 14 - before Real Salt Lake earned a 2-2 draw on Nov. 8 in Leg Two of their Western Conference Semifinal Series, a result that earned the Utah side a 3-2 aggregate series win and advancement to the West Final. Before RSL's victory last June, coming courtesy of a first half breakaway tally by current MLS scoring co-leader Robbie Findley, the Utah side had earned just a single point from seven previous meetings on the road against Chivas USA.
