
D.C. United and Washington Freedom Announce Doubleheaders

CHANTILLY, VA (February 24, 2003) - D.C. United announced today plans for two doubleheaders with the WUSA's Washington Freedom at RFK Stadium this season. The first will take place on May 17th when the Freedom take on the Carolina Courage at 5:00 p.m., followed by a 7:30 p.m. contest between United and the Kansas City Wizards. The second doubleheader is slated for July 19th when United will kick off the afternoon with a 4:00 p.m. contest against the San Jose Earthquakes, which will be televised live on espn2. The Freedom will then follow the MLS match-up by taking on the New York Power at 6:30 p.m.
"We're pleased to once again be partnering with the Washington Freedom to bring DC soccer fans two great doubleheaders at RFK," said United Senior Vice President and General Manger Stephen Zack. "United/Freedom doubleheaders have quickly become a tradition among our fans and we are looking forward to great crowds once again this year."
D.C. United and the Washington Freedom have the longest standing relationship between teams from MLS and the WUSA playing in the same market. The clubs have played two doubleheaders a season in each of the past two seasons. The games have proved to be a big draw throughout the youth soccer community, averaging 27,786 people per game.
Tickets for the doubleheaders, and any other United contest, can be purchased through any TicketMaster outlets, via www.dcunited.com, www.ticketmaster.com, or TicketMaster Phone Charge and at the RFK Stadium box office. Prices will range from $16 for Spectator level (endline) seating through $36 for Mezzanine level seating. Group tickets (20 or more) range from $13 (Spectator) to $28 (Mezzanine).
