Starting XI Honors: Four D.C. United Academy players were honored this past week when the U.S. Soccer Development Academy announced the Conference Starting XI. D.C. United competed in the Mid-Atlantic Conference, where the Under 16 team finished second in the standings while the Under 18 squad finished fourth in their age group.
In the Under 15/16 category, three United players were named to the Mid-Atlantic Starting XI. Defender Nick Yin, midfielder Paul Torres and forward Chris Hegngi all earned roster spots. Yin has been invited to the National Team Training camp, while Hegngi was an All-American at DeMatha High School. Torres, D.C.'s U16 squad captain, also earned Academy Starting XI honors.
The Under 17/18 age group saw one United player earn a roster spot. Goalkeeper Bill Hamid was named to the U-17/18 Mid Atlantic Starting XI. Hamid is one of a several U.S. Development Academy players with international experience, currently in Uruguay and Argentina with the Under 20 Men's National Team.
Summer Camps: The D.C. United Academy has added one last Summer Camp date to their calendar. A half-day camp will run from August 18-22 at High Point High School in Beltsville, Maryland.
