
Red Bulls Forward Oscar Echeverry To Undergo Season-Ending Surgery

SECAUCUS, NJ (July 29, 2008) - Red Bull New York announced today that forward Oscar Echeverry will undergo season-ending surgery to repair an osteochondral lesion in his right knee. Echeverry, who had a scan on his knee last week, will be out for six months and will be placed on the team's Season Ending Injury List.
Echeverry will have the surgery on Thursday, Aug. 7 at the Hospital of Special Surgery, with the operation being performed by Dr. Riley Williams. The Colombian forward signed with the Red Bulls on March 26, 2008 and has featured in nine games this season, starting in seven. Echeverry, who previously played for Colombian First Division side, Atletico Nacional, scored a goal in the Red Bulls' 1-0 exhibition win over Chivas de Guadalajara on June 25 in Glendale, AZ.
The Red Bulls (5-6-7, 22 pts.) will host an exhibition match against Spanish La Liga power, FC Barcelona, on Wednesday, August 6 at Giants Stadium at 7 PM ET. For tickets, call the Red Bulls at 1.877.RBSOCCER or log onto www.newyorkredbulls.com.
