
Red Bulls Sign Defender Diego Jimenez

SECAUCUS, NJ (July 29, 2008) - Red Bull New York announced today that it has signed Mexican defender Diego Jimenez to a developmental contract. Per League and club policy, specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Diego will provide depth and experience to our defense and we're confident that he will compete for a starting position," said Red Bull New York Sporting Director Jeff Agoos.
Jimenez, 22, was previously with Mexican club, Tecos, for the past three years. After making his way through the Tecos youth system from 2002-04, Jimenez featured for Tecoman before being called up to the Tecos first team. Through his three seasons with Tecos, he made 26 appearances.
Born in Tepatitlan, Mexico, Jimenez was a starter for the Mexican Under-21 and Under-20 National Teams.
The Red Bulls (5-6-7, 22 pts.) will host an exhibition match against Spanish La Liga power, FC Barcelona, on Wednesday, August 6 at Giants Stadium at 7 PM ET. For tickets, call the Red Bulls at 1.877.RBSOCCER or log onto www.newyorkredbulls.com.
