
D.C. United & 106.7 FM WJFK to Air "The Soccer Show Presented by D.C. United"

Washington, D.C. (March 31, 2005) - D.C. United, in conjunction with WJFK (106.7 FM), announced today the launch of "The Soccer Show Presented by D.C. United." The new program will be broadcast Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM throughout the course of the Major League Soccer season and will include both United and MLS game re-caps, United player interviews, as well as U.S. National Team, global and general soccer discussion. Hosts Tony Limarzi and John Dyson will also take phone calls from listeners during the full-hour broadcast.
"We are ecstatic about the new D.C. United soccer program and our partnership with WJFK," said D.C. United Senior Vice President Stephen Zack. "This broadcast will further provide our fans with information, insight and analysis regarding all things United."
"The interest in our champion, D.C. United, and soccer, in general, throughout the metro area is reaching a fever pitch," said WJFK Senior Vice President and General Manager Michael Hughes. "That makes this the perfect program for WJFK. We are thrilled to extend our partnership with D.C. United and offer this program to our listeners."
Host Tony Limarzi has extensive knowledge of MLS and D.C. United, having served as United's play-by-play announcer on the D.C. United Radio Network since the beginning of the 2002 season. Limarzi has also called a number of special events for Major League Soccer including the 2004 All-Star Game, and the 2004 MLS Celebration Match. He shares his insights in a weekly column for dcunited.com entitled "Tony's Take."
Fellow Host John Dyson was involved with the original launch of "The Soccer Show" in March of 2000. Dyson, along with Chris Webb and Mike Martin, continued to broadcast that show through 2004, discussing D.C. United, Major League Soccer, the U.S. National Teams and other soccer-related topics. Dyson has also worked with WJFK as part of the Operations Department, assisting with various on-air and behind the scenes work, including involvement with the Washington Redskins broadcasts.
106.7 FM WJFK serves the Washington D.C. area with a top-rated lineup of personalities including Howard Stern, Don & Mike, The Junkies, and Ron & Fez. WJFK is also the flagship station of The Washington Redskins, and is owned and operated by Infinity Broadcasting, a division of Viacom.
