New England Revolution News Release
Foxborough, Mass. - The New England Revolution announced today that all of the team's regular season games will be broadcast on television and radio for their historic 10th anniversary season.
The Revolution will again partner with WB56 (19 games) and Fox Sports Net New England (11 games) as the team's regional television carriers. An additional two games will be nationally televised on ESPN2. The 2005 campaign is the sixth season that WB56 will televise the Revolution, and it is the eighth straight year that Fox Sports Net New England will carry the Revs.
WEEI 850 AM will be the Revolution's primary radio broadcast outlet for a fourth consecutive season. All games on WEEI will also be heard on WEEI 103.7 FM in Providence, R.I. and WVEI 1090 AM in Central Massachusetts. All games not on WEEI will be broadcast on sister station WRKO 680 AM.
"This broadcast package demonstrates the commitment that the Revolution has to bringing live soccer action into the homes of New England soccer fans," said Revolution general manager Craig Tornberg. "The Kraft family has made it a priority to ensure that every match in club history has been televised. That proud tradition will continue this season."
The Revolution broadcast announcing team will feature Brad Feldman on play-by-play and former Revs defender Greg Lalas as the color analyst. Feldman, now in his fifth season as a Revolution broadcaster, previously served as color commentator while providing play-by-play for select matches. Lalas, who played for New England in 1997, is in his first full campaign as part of the Revolution broadcast team after earning on-air experience on Revs broadcasts in 2004. The Brown University graduate is also a writer whose works appears in Boston Magazine, The Boston Globe magazine, Striker Magazine and MLSnet.com.
This year's broadcasts will allow soccer fans to get closer to the action than ever before. A "Sounds of the Game" player microphone feature will be introduced this year, allowing viewers to hear and see MLS soccer from the perspective of the players themselves.
For a second consecutive season, select Revolution matches will be broadcast in Spanish in SAP. Andres Rodriguez (play-by-play) and Daniel Gutierrez (color) both return to the broadcast booth for 2005.
The Revolution's 2005 season opener at the San Jose Earthquakes can be seen on Fox Sports Net New England at heard on WRKO live at 10:00 pm (ET) on Saturday, April 2.
