
Rapids Sign Two Players From Open Tryouts

DENVER, CO (04-31-05)- The Colorado Rapids announced today the signings of Denver native Joshua Elbaum and goalkeeper Michael Cardenas to Developmental contracts with the club. Details of the contracts for both of the players, who were selected by the Rapids coaching staff during the club's 2005 Open Tryouts, were not made public.
Elbaum, who most recently played for the San Diego Sockers of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), played college soccer at Oregon State University also played
Cardenas, who played collegiately for Boston University, was working full-time for an outdoor sporting goods company when he heard about the Rapids 2005 Open Tryouts. He played one season in the Czechoslovakian Republic First Division with team SK Ceske Budejovice as well as with the Western Mass Pioneers of the USL Second Division.
The Rapids will kick off Major League Soccer's 10th Season on Saturday, April 2nd at 6:00 p.m. MT when they travel to Kansas City to take on the Wizards at Arrowhead Stadium. The Black and Blue will then host the team's 10th Season Opener on Saturday, April 9th at 7:00 p.m. MT at INVESCO Field at Mile High when the team hosts FC Dallas and their high-profile forward duo of Eddie Johnson and Carlos "El Pescadito" Ruiz.
