TODAY'S MATCHUP: This morning, the Cyclones have an opportunity to pull within one point of first place in the North Division as they visit Wings Stadium for the second-to-last time this season. After another Cincinnati victory on Sunday, the Clones have strung together three straight "W's" and sit just three points back of Kalamazoo. Perhaps as important, they hold a four point edge over Chicago for the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race. This season, Jarrod Skalde's team is 5-6-0-1 against their Michigan rivals.
SCOUTING THE WINGS: After earning just three points out of a possible six over the weekend in Florida, Nick Bootland's club returns home with a 31-21-2-5 record. They have won just three games out of their last ten despite owning the top offense in the Eastern Conference (214 goals scored). Amidst the struggle, Trent Daavettila is still among league-leaders in scoring - posting 15 goals and 46 assists. His totals are good for 4th-most in the ECHL. With Riley Gill still on loan in the American Hockey League, Maxime Clermont is the go-to guy for the Wings between the pipes. This season, the New Jersey Devils prospect has gone 10-10-1-2 with a 3.51 goals-against average. Against the Cyclones this season, Clermont has earned a 2-3-1 mark and a 4.26 GAA.
About Sunday Afternoon in Toledo: Behind three shootout saves from Chet Pickard, the Cyclones knocked off the Walleye by a 4-3 final score in front of 6,569 at Huntington Center. It was Cincinnati's first win in Toledo since December 9, 2011 and pulled them within three points of division-leading Kalamazoo.
Eastern Conference Playoff Race: The top eight teams at season's end earn a Kelly Cup Playoff bid (as of 3/6).

The New Guy: The Cyclones have added a new rear guard to the mix as the stretch run gets underway - David MacDonald. He was a four-year letter winner at St. Mary's University (CIS) and led all team defensemen in scoring in his final two years on campus. He earned 123 points in 304 games as an amateur.
Killing Spree: The Cyclones have been nearly automatic with the penalty kill unit of late. They have successfully extinguished 23 of their last 25 power plays against. On the season, Cincinnati ranks fourth in the ECHL with an 84.4% kill-rate (205-for-242). Against the Wings this year, the Clones have killed off nearly 89 percent.
