Jamestown Jammers News Release

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Brooklyn Cyclones scored four runs in the first two innings and held the Jamestown offense in check the rest of the game to best the Jammers, 5-2, Wednesday night at MCU Park.

In the first game after the All-Star Break, the Cyclones showed no signs of rust as they won their third consecutive game and sent the Jammers to their second straight setback. The loss drops the Jammers back to .500 at 29-29.

Terrence Dayleg paced the Jamestown offense with three hits, including two doubles, and a run scored. Ryan Goetz also contributed a pair of two baggers, and Viosergy Rosa also had one.

The Cyclones loaded the bases up in the first inning on a double, walk and single, but only scratched across one run on a sacrifice fly by Cole Frenzel.

Brooklyn added on to that advantage in the second as they filled the bases again. Daniel Muno had a RBI ground out, and Javier Rodriguez ripped a two-run triple to right to make it 4-0.

After a scoreless fourth, Jamestown finally got on the board in the fifth inning as Dayleg ripped a double with two outs. He then swiped third and scored when catcher Xorge Carrillo's throw sailed into left field. The Jammers had the next two batters reach to put runners at the corners; however, they could not add any more on.

In the bottom of the fifth, Brooklyn pushed the advantage back to four on a T.J. Rivera sacrifice fly.

The Jammers continued to have runners reach base in the later innings; however, each threat was neutralized by the Brooklyn relievers until the ninth inning.

Bronx native Rosa roped a one-out double off the base of the wall to start the comeback attempt before Ryan Goetz drilled a two bagger of his own just inside the left field line; however, it was too late as Dayleg flew out to end the game and leave the tying run on deck.

Orlando Tovar earned the win for the Cyclones after coming on in relief and throwing 1.1 innings. Marcos Camarena got the start and fanned eight in 4.2 innings to come up just short of the win.

For the Jammers, Dejai Oliver took the loss after giving up six hits and four runs with four strikeouts in three innings.

Richard Lucas and Carrillo each had a pair of hits for the Cyclones, while Rodriguez had a triple and drove in two runs.

The two teams will be back in action Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
