Denver Cutthroats News Release


DENVER, CO - The first chapter of the rivalry between the Denver Cutthroats and the Rapid City Rush began this past weekend with the Rush sweeping a home-and-home series between the two teams. The Cutthroats now prepare for a pair of games this weekend against the visiting Fort Worth Brahmas to try and snap their three-game skid.

October 26 at Rapid City Rush, 3-2 Loss

The Cutthroats found themselves on a 6-on-4, two-man advantage with the goaltender pulled and 6.5 seconds left in regulation, but Rapid City was able to hold on for the victory. Luke Fulghum scored his first two goals of the season, and the 200th of his career, in the contest for the Cutthroats.

October 27 vs. Rapid City Rush, 4-2 Loss

The Cutthroats took a 2-1 lead into the third period thanks to a pair of power play goals by Troy Schwab, but the Rapid City Rush scored three goals in the final period to take the home-and-home series. Tim Boron registered 33 saves in the win for the Rush.

The Cutthroats and Brahmas (1-1-1) meet for the beginning of six total meetings this season between the two clubs. The Brahmas' trek to Denver closes out a four-game road trip. Brendan Hodge (two goals, one assist) and Riley Boychuck (one goal, two assists) both lead the Brahmas' offense with three points this season.
