
Cutters Sweep ValleyCats with 6-2 Win

The Williamsport Crosscutters earned a three-game sweep of the Tri-City ValleyCats Friday night with a resounding 6-2 victory at Historic Bowman Field.
The Cutters broke a scoreless tie in the third, as Pete Lavin's sac fly and Kyrell Hudson's RBI single made it 2-0 Williamsport. They added two more runs in the fourth, as Taylor Black ripped an RBI triple and Kenny Miramontes chipped in with a sac fly.
The ValleyCats finally managed a run off Cutters starter Colin Kleven in the fifth, as Rafael Valenzuela's two-out RBI single made it a 4-1 game.
Williamsport padded its lead again in the sixth, as Nolan Clark's two-run single to right extended the home team's lead to 6-1.
Tri-City closed the gap to 6-2 in the eighth, as Matt Duffy's RBI groundout brought home Valenzuela.
Kleven finished with five innings pitched, allowing one unearned run while striking out three. Matt Campbell threw two shutout innings of relief, and Jesus Pirela yielded just one unearned run in his two innings to close it out.
The Cutters will now welcome in Jamestown for three games from August 20-22, with Saturday's matchup starting at 7:05pm. Every game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com
